French Pronunciation Practice and French Pronunciation Quiz
This folder is a collection of HyperCard™ stacks illustrating the pronunciation of French vowels, consonants and essential optional and required liaisons. French Pronunciation Practice (FPP) and its companion stack French Pronunciation Quiz (FPQ) are HyperCard™ Stacks which make use of sound stacks HyperSound™1 and HyperSound™2 which I recorded using MacRecorder™. The sound stacks contain the words and phrases illustrated by FPP and FPQ stacks. The remaining stacks (Combos, Consonants and Vowels) contain the text of the presentation. Pierre Delattre's Principes de Phonétique was used as reference for liaisons.
This is a browse only application. All stacks should reside in the same folder to operate properly since they interact. They will work more smoothly if installed on your hard disk. The user will need HyperCard or HyperCard Player to work through the presentation. Further information on use of the stacks is presented in a pop-up field on the title page of each stack.
The French Pronunciation Practice stack should be opened first. This stack is the general table of contents and is used to access the other stacks. You will come back to this stack to access all general topics.
French Pronunciation Quiz allows auditory testing of vowels and vowel combinations. It is a follow-up exercise for French Pronunciation Practice.
These stacks are freeware distributed without warranty. I have used them in a language lab setting for about three years and students have found them helpful.
